Police in Clinton, Iowa, continued their search Sunday for the occupants of an unattended boat.
The search began at 8:30 a.m. and continued until 4 p.m., when it was suspended due to darkness. In addition to police, crews from Clinton Fire, Fulton Fire, Camanche Fire, Clinton County Emergency Management, Emergency K-9 Operation – Search and Rescue, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, and Big River Rescue all helped with the search.
Sgt. Ron Heeren said a number of local businesses also provided food and drink for volunteers.
The search began on Saturday, November 26, 2016, when Clinton Police responded to a barge docking area near 1500 South Second Street.
Crews from one of the barges had recovered an unattended boat, and the occupants were unaccounted for.
Police have not yet said how many boaters are missing.
