QCCA Arts and Crafts Fair an unofficial start to holiday season

For those looking to get a jump start on their holiday shopping, the Quad City Expo Center is the place to be each year for the QCCA Arts and Crafts Fair.

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois - For those looking to get a jump start on their holiday shopping, the Quad City Expo Center is the place to be each year for the QCCA Arts and Crafts Fair.

This was the 27th year for the fair, bringing in vendors who create their own crafts to sell to more than 11,000 people who stop in for the event. Organizers and vendors say the fair is becoming so popular and such a mainstay over Thanksgiving weekend, that they're starting to see familiar faces each time they open up the doors for the fair.

"Oh, it is a tradition. We've got customers that come every year and have for years, and we've got vendors that have been here for years. So, it is most definitely a tradition in this area," head promoter Chris Beaty said.

The fair also serves as a drop-off point for Toys for Tots, letting people bring in new toys to donate to kids in need.
