Festival of Trees comes to a close for the year

Thanksgiving weekend is coming to an end, and so is an annual Quad Cities tradition.

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Thanksgiving weekend is coming to an end, and so is an annual Quad Cities tradition.

The yearly Festival of Trees celebration welcomed visitors to the RiverCenter in Davenport for a final day on Sunday, November 27th, 2016, with plenty of trees and Christmas decorations to take a look at before they all disappear for the year. Even though the event is coming to a close, visitors and organizers both say this is one of the big events that really kicks off the Christmas season.

"The festival is a wonderful time for all of us, otherwise I don't think we'd chose to work on it. Now you know it's time for the holidays right around the corner. So, there's so much more holiday spirit to be found even when Festival closes for the year," Megan Schoff with Quad City Arts said.

Organizers say they're not yet sure how many people stopped into the RiverCenter this year for the Festival of Trees.
