28th annual Christmas tree lighting honors POW/MIA servicemen

DIXON, Illinois — A Christmas tree lighting to honor prisoners of war and military members missing in action will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Veterans Memorial Park on Veterans Memorial Parkway on the west edge of Dixon, Illinois.

The 28th annual POW/MIA Christmas Tree Lighting is meant to honor the servicemen and women that won’t be home for the holidays.

A red bulb will be lit for each Illinois Vietnam veteran who is still missing. Symbolic bulbs will also be lit for those who are still missing from the Korean War and World War II. The grand lighting will take place at the end of the ceremony, and the tree will say lit throughout the holidays.

The public is invited to the ceremony and tree lighting.
