DAVENPORT, Iowa — Early Thanksgiving morning, Davenport Police responded to the 600 block of East 4th Street for an accident involving a pedestrian. The accident occurred just outside of the Quad City Times building in Downtown Davenport.

Police say, a vehicle traveling westbound in the northern-most lane of 4th Street struck a man, identified as 34 year old Kevin Haslem of Davenport. The accident happened around 3:30 a.m. Haslam was was loading newspapers into a legally parked vehicle when the crash occurred.

He was transported to the hospital and then moved to Iowa City with life-threatening injuries.

According to Davenport Police, the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated and charged with OWI, Serious Injury with a Motor Vehicle and Control of Vehicle. His name is Rodolfo Solis, 31 years old from Davenport and is in custody of the Scott County Sheriff’s Department.

The Davenport Police Department Traffic Safety Unit continues to investigate the incident.
