BETTENDORF, Iowa - We're still a few days away from Black Friday, but a Quad Cities store is starting its holiday deals early, and raising money to fight against cancer.

The Discovery Shop in Bettendorf opened up on a Sunday for a special holiday open house. The store was full of shoppers looking for a great deal on holiday gifts. The yearly open house is one of the Discovery Shop's biggest fundraisers for the American Cancer Society, and store staff say it helps to have a lot of other holiday activities happening in the Quad Cities at the same time.

"It's kind of nice that there are so many activities, because people throw us in as a part of it. So there may be people that are only in the Quad Cities once or twice a year, and they know to stop by because they know they can get some great deals, have a fun afternoon and be in and out in a couple hours," Discovery Shop manager Jamie Sons said.

Sons says they're expecting to raise anywhere between $6,000-$9,000 for the American Cancer Society from this open house alone.
