10th annual Jeff’s Car Corner Thanksgiving dinner helps celebrate the community

DAVENPORT, Iowa - During a time of giving in the Quad Cities, teachers and car dealers in Davenport team up to serve a community meal.

This is the 10th year that Jeff's Car Corner has provided a Thanksgiving Dinner at Monroe Elementary School, giving back to the neighborhood where the business is located and where the owner grew up. Hundreds of people pack into the gym and cafeteria to get a plate of some turkey, potatoes, stuffing and pie. It's a sense of community and caring that they hope people take away from the meal.

"I think it's going to be bigger than just today. I think a lot of people are going to take this spirit of what's going on and carry it further, and hopefully that'll go out into the community. Hopefully this will become much bigger than it was ever intended to be," Jeff's Car Corner CEO Travis Sherven said.

Every year, the dinner serves anywhere between 500 and 600 people and is free to whoever stops by for a meal.
