New outreach center offers food, services to QC veterans

The next food giveaway for veterans will be held at the center Dec. 12-17 from 10 a.m. – noon.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — A new food pantry and outreach center opened on Saturday, Nov. 19, to serve local heroes.

The Quad Cities Veteran Outreach Center will help local servicemen and women. The center started handing out food baskets from its pantry Saturday morning. The Blue Grass American Legion dedicated the building in honor of local veterans and to the center's director.

A 99-year-old World War II veteran cut the ribbon during the dedication ceremony.

The food pantry is located at 250 W. 35th Street in Davenport. The next food giveaway for veterans will be held at the center Dec. 12-17 from 10 a.m. - noon. A veterans ID is required.
