Breakfast at Bettendorf High School raises money for premature babies

The Centers for Disease Control says about one out of every 10 babies born in the U.S. is born too early.

BETTENDORF, Iowa — Dozens of people stayed warm with breakfast at Bettendorf High School on Saturday morning, Nov. 19. The March of Dimes pancake breakfast featured pancakes, bacon and eggs all for a good cause.

Students with the Future Business Leaders of America Club hosted the breakfast, which raised money to help premature babies, and those born with birth defects.

"It's a great thing for the community because premature birth is common in a lot of people and it's just an easy way to support it," said Lexi Mendoza, event organizer.
