DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Festival of Trees started off its 30th year in style on Thursday, Nov. 17. More than 100,000 people attend the event each year. It's the annual fundraiser for Quad City Arts, generating millions of dollars in support of local arts over the years.
This year's event will be opened to the public Saturday, November 19, until the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
New festival features include, a new floor plan layout, a special movie screening of “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” on the Putnam’s National Geographic GIANT screen theater and an additional indoor train for kids and adults.
"People who have come to the festival for the last several of years will notice that, it's a whole new experience all of the decorations are mixed together. We've moved the stage from the center to the corner of the room, it's just a really great way to experience Festival of Trees this year," says Megan Schoff, from Quad City Arts.
The Silver Bell Social where seniors can get tickets at the door for $5, is scheduled for Friday, November 18.
