BETTENDORF, Iowa-- In honor of America Recycles Day, the Waste Commission of Scott County partnered with Unilever, a national sponsor of the nonprofit organization, "I Want To Be Recycled," to donate more than 700 fleece jackets made from recycled water bottles Tuesday, November 15.

It's a part of a national initiative called Keep America Beautiful, to motivate recycling efforts well into the winter season.

"Keep America Beautiful was created back in 1997 to draw attention to recycling in the fall to get people excited about it.  A lot of times you think of recycling in the spring with Earth Day and this is just a way to kind of keep it top of mind throughout the year," says Brandy Welvaert, from the Waste Commission of Scott County.

Parents interested in getting a coat for their kids can fill out an online request form  HERE, or print one out HERE and turn it in the Coats for Kids program offices in Bettendorf inside the Mississippi Bend Educational Agency.
