DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — About 60 students from a Catholic high school in eastern Iowa are travelling to Italy this week to perform for Pope Francis.

The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports the choir from Wahlert Catholic High School will perform Sunday at a Mass Pope Francis will preside at.

About 300 singers from the United States will perform, but Wahlert is the only American high school that was chosen to participate.

Choir director Aaron Behnke says the trip and the performance will be an amazing experience for his students.

The students will also spend several days in Rome touring historic sites.

Senior Carlie Noel says she’s excited about the trip and the chance to travel overseas
