Epilepsy Foundation of the Quad Cities raising awareness through laughter

It’s an afternoon full of laughter for people looking to spread awareness about epilepsy.

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois - It's an afternoon full of laughter for people looking to spread awareness about epilepsy.

The Establishment Theater in Rock Island filled up for a special fundraiser to help the Epilepsy Foundation of the Quad Cities. Everyone donned their purple and enjoyed a performance from the comedy improv group "Guys in Ties." This is just one of many events the group holds, hoping to get more people aware of a disorder that impacts 1 in every 26 people nationwide.

"This is a disorder that's not talked about a great deal. So, a lot of these people do feel isolated at times. Having that support and having those people here and to show them all that they have that support and that they're not alone," Monta Ponsetto with the Epilepsy Foundation of the Quad Cities said.

The next big event the group is planning is coming in April with the Purple Dash Walk and 5K run.
