AAVENGE flips pancakes for pitties

The money raised through the breakfast and silent auction will be donated to groups who work with the abused animals directly.

MILAN, Illinois — A local support group for abused and neglected dogs is getting a big boost to their efforts through pancakes.

AAVENGE welcomed dozens of people on Sunday morning, Nov. 13, to their 8th annual Pancakes for Pitties fundraiser. The money raised through the breakfast and silent auction will be donated to groups who work with the abused animals directly.

Volunteers spent the morning just trying to keep up with the demand from some hungry people looking to help a good cause.

"It really warms my heart. We have people that have sent money with other people because they couldn't make it. One man drove all the way from Davenport to give us a donation because he'd already eaten breakfast, so it's just wonderful. It makes my heart really happy," said Cindy Vanlandegen, AAVENGE founder.

The breakfast raised more than $1,500 to help keep animals safe and healthy.
