Bettendorf: A Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, November 11 will be held at 2 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, at 1645 23rd Street. Mayor Bob Gallagher and Alderman Greg Adamson will be there, along with commanders from the VFW, VVA and American Legion. Light refreshments will be served.

Davenport: The annual Veterans Day Parade will kick off at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 11. The Grand Marshals are Rock Island Arsenal Garrison Commander Colonel Tauke, Command Sergeant Major Callwood and Mayor Frank Klipsch. A ceremony in front of the Scott County Courthouse will take place immediately after the parade.  The public is invited to a luncheon at noon at the American Legion Post 26; 702 West 35th Street and an open house at VFW Post 828; 101 S. Linwood Avenue from noon to 3 p.m.

Milan: Veterans Day Ceremony at the American Legion (515 W. 1st Avenue) in Milan on Friday, November 11 at 11 a.m.  Col. Donald K. Wols from the Rock Island Arsenal will speak.  The event includes a wreath laying at the base of a monument on the Post lawn and a 21-gun salute.  A ceremony to retire old flags will be held immediately following in the parking lot.  Join veterans for chili and hot dogs afterward. Donations welcome.

Moline: Stories are being collected for the Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project.  Veterans, active duty, reserve or guard members are being asked to come to Western Illinois University’s Quad Cities campus from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, November 11 to share their stories (must be at least 30 minutes).  Call 309-764-2400 to reserve your appointment at Riverfront Hall. Rock Island: Veterans Day Ceremony at the Rock Island National Cemetery begins at 1 p.m.

Silvis: A Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at Hero Street at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 12.  Major General Edward M. Daly will be speaking.
