ROCK ISLAND, Illinois-- Rock Island County Clerk's Office expects to see a 40 percent voter turn out rate come Tuesday, November 8.
However to make sure everything runs as smoothly at the polls, Rock Island County Clerk Karen Kinney is urging people not to wait until Election Day to register to vote, even though it is perfectly legal to do so.
"It is permissible under the law, it would just tie up the lines and it would be an inconvenience to the voter, as well as the election judges," says Kinney.
Early voting in Rock Island County will continue until the day before elections, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 7 pm.
The deadline for turning in absentee voter applications to Rock Island County was Thursday, November 3.
Voters in Scott County have until 5pm Friday, November 4, to request an absentee ballot to be mailed.
