Neighbors recount overnight shooting in Davenport neighborhood

One man was injured and another was taken into custody after a confrontation led to a shooting overnight.

DAVENPORT, Iowa - One man was injured and another was taken into custody after a confrontation led to a shooting overnight.

The incident happened in the 1300 block of Division Street around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.

Residents in the neighborhood heard the loud noises late at night.

"I just rolled over because I thought they do this all the time, it was not unusual," said neighbor.

Neighbors said they weren't too worried until they saw all of the police in the area.

"That was unusual to see, the fire dept here, the ambulance here and tons of squad cars," said Joe, neighbor.

Byron Blackwell was charged with willful injury after shooting a man police said was breaking into his truck.

"Then they took away the person, who got hurt, they put him away in the ambulance and then it was probably about 4 o`clock -- we saw them then march Byron down the street with the handcuffs on," said neighbor.

Crime scene tape and police investigating on their street wasn't something neighbors said they're used to.

"It`s surreal, it is surreal, when you know that it`s right next door," said neighbor.

The man who was shot was in stable condition as of Tuesday, November 2.
