NEWTON, Iowa — An inmate at the Newton Correctional Facility in Iowa was found dead in his cell around 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27.
Ernest Marienous Christensen, 66, was found unresponsive and unable to be revived by health service and security staff. An autopsy report determined that Christensen died of natural causes, says the department of corrections.
Christensen was serving a 10 year sentence for third-degree sexual abuse from Osceola County, says the DOC. His sentence began on July 2, 2013.
