A nearby school was locked down, but no one outside the home was injured.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- Police say one person is dead and another wounded following a standoff Monday afternoon, October 24, 2016, in a residential area of Rock Island.

Police responded to a report of a suicidal resident in the 3900 block of 20th Avenue around 12:45 p.m. Nearby streets were blocked off as police took up positions around the house.

Nearby Denkmann school was also placed on lock down, but was dismissed on time when it was clear there was no threat to students.

Officers entered the home around 2:45 p.m., where two victims were located.

One woman, identified Tuesday as 91-year-old Helen N. Elliott, died from a shotgun wound to the chest and abdomen, according to Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson.  An autopsy was performed on Elliott in Dixon, Illinois.
