Today’s Feline Friday story is an oldie but a goody – a CNN feature on a skydiving cat commercial that put the internet into a tizzy.
Animal lovers (especially feline afficionados) reacted with outrage when a Swedish insurance company featuresd falling kitties in an ad. This was surely animal cruelty! But it turns out, it was also fake.
“I can reassure all animal lovers that the cats have not been skydiving for real,” a company spokesman said amid the hubbub – revealing that the cats were filmed in a studio in front of a green screen with fans being used to simulate rushing air over their silky coats.
So what does this have to do with the bonkers 2016 election?
The moral of the story is just because you saw it on the internet – you may want to be skeptical until you can confirm its veracity.
But there is a twist! It turns out some dogs really DO like to skydive – at least with their owners.
“It’s the ultimate car window,” one jumper said of his pooch’s reaction to jumping out of a plane.
So there is that.
