Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity Quad Cities got a lot of extra helping hands this morning thanks to the staff at area Hy-Vee stores.

All day, managers and staff from Hy-Vee will be working on a home on 9th Street in Davenport. Normally, crews are working on Saturdays with the Habitat homes, but with the help of the Hy-Vee volunteers, they were ready to make an exception. It's an uplifting moment for Habitat regulars to see new faces stop in to put the houses together.

"I think the fact that it's Habitat for Humanity. They're helping out a family that couldn't get this house without this kind of help. We can't get this done without the help of volunteers such as Hy-Vee coming in to help us," Scott Christopher with Habitat for Humanity Quad Cities said.

There are still a few months of work left before this house is complete. Once it's done, a family originally from Togo, Africa will get to move in and call that place home.
