MOLINE, Illinois - A Quad City soccer club is focusing more on teaching players values than scoring goals.

Money can't buy you everything and the Mid-American Premier Soccer team is proof of that.

The soccer club formed four years ago started out with just a few players now has grown to more than 40 players.

Coach Jason DeLaCruz and Jeff Barnes created the non-profit club to teach kids soccer and so much more.

"We`re pretty much doing it from our hearts," said Barnes.

They offer a low fee to families who normally wouldn't be able to afford it and help kids stay out of trouble.

"A lot of it has kept them off the streets. They`ve even told me and the other coach they don`t know where they`d be at today," said Barnes.

It what the soccer players say that's most rewarding to these coaches.

"I`m really bored at home I have nothing to do at home so I just come to practice," said Benjamin Gooh.

DeLaCruz says the most any coach can ask for from his players, "I think if we can help those kids out specifically when they`re young like that I think they`ll have a better chance of you know being a better person and a better athlete."

The coaches say they're always looking for more players and anyone can join in the Quad Cities.
