UPDATE: One dead after two-vehicle crash on Illinois Route 84

One person died after two vehicles collided on Illinois Route 84.

THOMSON, Illinois — The Caroll COunty Sheriff’s Department has released the names of the people involved in a fatal two-vehicle crash on Rt. 84 last Thursday.

The driver of the minivan that collided with a car was Felix Martinez-Lopez, 36, of Bowling Green, Florida. Passengers in the van were Pedro Martinez-Lopez, 42; Leopoldo DeJesus Calix-Figuero, 23; Elidio Perez-Ramirez, 40; Luis Martinez-Lopez, 34 and Emner Martinez-Lopez, 20 all of Bowling Green. Elidio Perez-Ramirez died as a result of his injuries after being transported to Mercy Hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle was Jon T. Green, 43, of Wayne, Michigan.

Felix Martinez-Lopez was cited for failure to yield and operating an uninsured vehicle.

THOMSON, Illinois — One person died after two vehicles collided on Illinois Route 84.

The crash happened when a southbound vehicle struck a minivan that pulled out of a private drive and was crossing Rt. 84, according to a statement from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department.  The caller reporting the crash said that someone had been thrown from one of the vehicles.

It happened just north of Thomson at Four Mile Road, shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2016, according to the statement.

Police said the six people in the minivan were taken to the hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead.  The two people in the southbound vehicle were treated at the scene and released.

Officials are still investigating the crash and no names are being released at this time.
