Pedestrian struck by tractor trailer on Main Street in New Boston

NEW BOSTON, Illinois — A pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being struck by a tractor trailer on Main Street.

The collision happened just before 4 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2016, according to a statement from Chief Deputy Casey Switzer.

The statement indicated that the tractor trailer was traveling southbound on Main Street “when a juvenile entered the roadway.”

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to another facility with life-threatening injuries, the statement said.

There were no other reported injuries.
