BETTENDORF, Iowa — A Bettendorf woman has won $10,000 playing the $250,000 Riches scratch off ticket on Oct. 5. Denise Hill, 56, purchased the ticket at Lund’s 66 on Spruce Hills Drive in Bettendorf, where she works.
It’s a $20 ticket but it paid off big for Hill.
“I was by myself in the store and I looked at it and I looked at it again and I’m like, ‘No, that can’t be true,'” she told lottery employees when she collected her winnings on Tuesday. She called her manager right away to verify that she’d won.
Hill said when the big news was released to customers, they began asking her to rub their lottery tickets for good luck. Hill and her husband said they plan to use a portion of their lottery winnings to pay bills and share some with their children.
