Champion gamer breaks world record in Davenport

DAVENPORT, Iowa -- As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2016, Lonnie "The Joust Master" McDonald was an hour into his attempt at breaking a world record.

McDonald set up shop at the Joust machine at Analog Arcade Bar for his attempt.  The goal was to break his own record, scoring more than 10,111,750 points.

He said he expected it to take around five-and-a-half hours.

After about five hours Analog Arcade Bar posted an Instagram picture congratulating Lonnie on his new record: 11,013,000!

The champion gamer is on a quest to play Joust in all 50 states. The Davenport play is his 134th machine on the tour.  He said that he hopes to have played 148 machines by the end of his trip.

In 2017, McDonald plans to play his 150th machine at a video game museum in Texas.
