ROCK ISLAND, Illinois-- Community leaders in the Quad Cities are trying to make it easier for people to get their voices heard by their elected officials.

The Black and Brown Coalition of the Quad Cities is a new group put together by the Rock Island County NAACP, LULAC, The QC Empowerment Network and others.

The goal of the coalition is to display unity in the Quad Cities' black and Latino communities, while giving them the opportunity to connect with candidates running for office in this year's general election.

"The power of people is critically important, it furthers the interest of the minority community and it furthers the interest of the broader majority community here in Rock Island County and ultimately in the Quad Cities Area," says Rock Island County NAACP  President, Berlinda Tyler-Jamison.

The Black and Brown Coalition of the Quad Cites will host political forums on October 16th and 20th.
