DIXON, Illinois — Police departments have been struggling all over the country to maintain good community relations as police-citizen tensions rise. But one department doesn’t seem to have as hard of a time as others.
The Dixon, Illinois police have found ways to get involved in their communities through Nerf and water guns.
This was posted to their Twitter on Sunday, Oct. 9. The officers helped a 10-year-old celebrate their birthday in style.
Later that day they explained: “As seen by the last 2 videos,
#DPD surprised 10 year old Braeden’s Nerf Battle Birthday Party! This “battle meeting” came together with the help of his coach and mother reaching out to our agency due to special circumstances. Happy Birthday Braeden!!”
But that’s not the first time officers have battled community kids to a game of Nerf. Here they are earlier this month for a surprise game:
And this summer the officers helped the community kids cool down with surprise day of water gun fights.
