DIXON, IllinoisΒ β Police departments have been struggling all over the country to maintain good community relations as police-citizen tensions rise. But one department doesnβt seem to have as hard of a time as others.
The Dixon, Illinois police have found ways to get involved in their communities through Nerf and water guns.
This was posted to their Twitter on Sunday, Oct. 9. The officers helped a 10-year-old celebrate their birthday in style.

Later that day they explained: βAs seen by the last 2 videos, #DPD surprised 10 year old Braedenβs Nerf Battle Birthday Party! This βbattle meetingβ came togetherΒ with the help of his coach and mother reaching out to our agency due to special circumstances. Happy Birthday Braeden!!β
But thatβs not the first time officers have battled community kids to a game of Nerf. Here they are earlier this month for a surprise game:
