DAVENPORT, Iowa — Davenport residents shared their morning cup of coffee with police on Friday, Oct. 7.

Officers joined community members for breakfast and conversation at the Kimberly Road Hy-Vee. It's called 'Coffee with a Cop.'

The goal of the event is to break down barriers between police officers and the people they serve. Officers say it's also a chance to show residents that cops are people, too.

"We get to get out with the public and sit down where there's no barriers, no squad cars, anything like that... we can sit down, sit across from people, listen to what is important to them and do some problem-solving," said Sgt. Dennis Colclasure with the Davenport department.

Officers say the topics ranged from the weather to neighborhood issues.
