Man charged Davenport officer-related shooting case taken into custody

The man who was shot by police when he rammed a cruiser while fleeing police has been taken into custody.

DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The man who was shot when police opened fire on a vehicle that rammed a marked squad car has been taken into custody.

The incident happened back in July of 2016. Previous reports indicate a vehicle was spotted speeding away from the scene of a shots fired call on Ripley Street.  Police tried to pull that vehicle over and that's when it ran into a squad car.

The vehicle was found later, and police said they discovered that 19-year-old Rodricco Radell Parks Jr., was taken to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.

Parks was later charged with assault on a peace officer with a dangerous weapon and second degree criminal mischief.

Jail records show that on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 he was booked into the Scott County Jail and remained in custody Thursday morning.
