Friends remember couple shot to death in Davenport home

Kevin and Donna Freese were killed this week. Police arrested their 20-year old son, Sean Freese, and charged him with first degree murder.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Friends of the Quad City couple found shot to death in their home this week are remembering the pair as kindhearted and community-minded, involved with several charities around the area.

"They have touched so many lives over the years. I am sure all across the Quad Cities there are people praying and thinking of Kevin and Donna," said attorney Dennis Vanderginst.

Kevin and Donna Freese were killed this week.  Police arrested their 20-year old son, Sean Freese, and charged him with first degree murder.

"They were great parents. Right now, they need us to pray for them. Those kids need our prayers. All of them. That's what Kevin and Donna would have wanted," said friend Cris Ryder, a Quad City realtor.

She says the couple had three children.

Both Ryder and Vanderginst became friends with the couple through the Chamber of Commerce and charity work. Both last saw them at a charity event in Davenport last Thursday night.

"As always, they were all smiles, having a great time, that's the vision most of who knew them will take with us," said Vanderginst.

"They would do anything for anybody and this community. It is a huge loss," Ryder said.

Sean Freese is in the Scott County Jail on one million dollars bond.

According to court records, he pleaded guilty in March 2016 to trespass and possessing a dangerous weapon, and paid a fine.

The couple's friends say they don't know what happened the night of the killings.

"I have no idea. Every time I ran into Donna, it was about her kids", Ryder said.
