DAVENPORT, Iowa — Multiple cats died in a fire that started in the upstairs apartment unit of a house.

Firefighters were called to a home on Howell Street near the intersection of Dixwell Street around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2016, according to a spokesperson with the Davenport Fire Department.  The fire started in the upstairs of a house that is divided into three apartment units.

It took crews about 15 minutes to put out the fire and damage was contained to the front room of the upstairs unit, where it all started.

Multiple cats in that upstairs unit died in the fire, the spokesperson said.

There were no residents home and there were no injuries to any responders.

There was no word on what may have caused the fire.
