COLONA, Illinois--  More than 200 runners crossed the finish line after running 100 miles along the Hennpin State Canal Trail Sunday, October 2nd.

For 49-year-old Susan Canevello this Ultra Marathon was her first race after undergoing multiple surgeries after falling down the stairs at her home in Grayslake, Illinois.

"My arm was broken right in half and bent backwards and it was pretty bad.... I was in the hospital for 5 days with the two casts. I went through two surgeries and I knew that this ... is the only way to really recover," says Canevello.

Runners completed as individuals or as part of a relay team.

The race benefits the non-profit Trails for Illinois.
