DAVENPORT, Iowa — Cancer survivors and their families kicked off breast cancer awareness month with a Butterfly Brunch.
More than 120 people gathered in downtown Davenport on Saturday, Oct. 1, to release butterflies in honor of women affected by breast cancer. The event also included a message from Diane Koster, the mother of a local breast cancer survivor.
"She's gone through a lot in five and a half months. And being able to be here and feel the support of the Komen Foundation and the community at large, it means so much to us," said Koster.
Today's brunch raised nearly $5,000 to support Komen Quad Cities and breast cancer research.
