Shots fired (MGN)

BURLINGTON, Iowa — A Burlington teen fired a gun at people before he was taken into custody on Thursday, Sept. 29. He reached into a bag he was carrying and fired at a man who was getting out of his vehicle in the 2200 block of Flint Hills Drive around 11:50 a.m. Thursday. He then fired on a group of bystanders, witnesses say.

No one was hit, and everyone fled. Two houses in the area were struck, say police.

Police chased the suspect through a heavily wooded area and two streets before taking him into custody in the 1400 block of Washington. He had ditched the gun but it was recovered by police.

The 17-year-old Burlington male is held in the Des Moines County Correctional Center and charged with two counts of intimidation, a class C felony, police say.
