ROCK ISLAND, Illinois -- Residents can get rid of their leaves for free starting in October.

Starting on Monday, October 10, 2016 the City of Rock Island is offering free leaf pick-up for residents.

Leaves need to be placed in approved paper yard waste bags.  The city is providing free leaf bags, but customers can use their own if they'd like.

To have leaves collected place the bags at the normal refuse collection location on your regular collection day. You do not have to be part of the Yard Waste Collection Program nor do you have to have a yard waste sticker on the bag of leaves.  Bags may only contain leaves.

Free bags can be picked up starting Monday, October 3.  Click here for a list of locations where leaf bags can be picked up.

Collection will last all fall until Friday, December 2.
