NORTHBROOK, Illinois — An Illinois company is recalling shrimp because of possible contamination with Salmonella.
Cencsea, Inc. is recalling its A-PAC 8/12 count count Headless Shell on Black Tiger Shrimp. Along with Illinois, the products were sold in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Virginia, Kentucky, and Texas.
There have been no illnesses reported in connection with eating this food. The FDA said the shrimp was “being recalled in an abundance of caution” when testing found Salmonella.
Salmonella can be serious and sometimes fatal in young children, frail, or elderly people. Symptoms often include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
No other products were affected, according to the statement.
