DAVENPORT, Iowa-- It may be too early for hats and gloves, but it's not too early to prepare for the holiday packages.

"We rely on those seasonal employees to really fill those gaps," says UPS Supervisor Amy Kelling.

UPS is hiring 95,000 extra employees nation wide to work during the months of October to January. 300 jobs are available in Davenport and Milan UPS hubs.

The company is looking for inside operation workers and people to load and unload trailers. Jobs pay $10.50 per hour and have benefits like employee health care and a retirement plan.

"37-percent will actually come back and fork full time. It's their opportunity to come in and see UPS, and it's our opportunity to find those good workers who want to come back with us. And many end up making careers after that," says Kelling.

Kelling says because more people are using the Internet to cross things off Christmas lists, they couldn't fill those stockings without the help of seasonal workers.

"When a package gets here, we want to make sure we get that delivered to that customer because we know they're relying on receiving that package that day. So these extra seasonals just really help us meet that need.
