Uncollected donations prompts Davenport Hy-Vee to move clothes recycling bins

Two donation bins for clothes and shoes were moved after they were overflowing with items.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Two donation bins for clothes and shoes were moved after they were overflowing with items.

The Operation Green drop boxes are located in the northwest corner of a parking lot leased by Hy-Vee Food Store near the intersection of Eastern Avenue and East Kimberly Road. Hy-Vee decided on Monday, September 19, 2016 to box up the items and move the bins until they can get in touch with Operation Green.

There is a number listed on the outside of the Operation Green drop boxes.   WQAD News 8 called the company to ask what the plan was for picking up the items in the bins, but our calls went unanswered.

Another Operation Green drop-off is located in the parking lot of Michael's Arts & Crafts at 4010 East 53rd Street. That location is not overflowing with items, but the bins are full.
