Suspect arrested in shooting of elderly man watering lawn

CHICAGO – Police have arrested and charged a man in the robbery and shooting of a 71-year-old man who was shot while watering his lawn, according to WGN.

Antonie Davis, 30, has been charged with one felony count of robbery and one felony count of aggravated battery.  He was arrested Friday, Sept. 16.

Police say Davis robbed and shot 71-year-old Fred LaGuardia as he was watering his lawn in front of his Marquette Park home on Sept. 6th.

LaGuardia’s brutal attack was recorded on a surveillance video. It shows him watering his lawn, when two men on bikes rode by.  They return and one of the suspects tries to rob him.  During a struggle, shots were fired.

LaGuardia was taken to the hospital where he spent several days.
