Search for truck continues after fatal hit and run in Jo Daviess County

The passenger was taken to a hospital by ambulance but later died of their injuries. Their name has not yet been released.

JO DAVIESS COUNTY, Illinois — One person is dead after a hit and run crash that happened around 10:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in Jo Daviess County. The hit and run happened on N. Pea Ridge Road just South of E. Stagecroach Trail, says authorities.

Jo Daviess Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene and saw that the vehicle that had been hit was parked in the southbound lane. The second vehicle had sideswiped the parked vehicle and a passenger that was standing outside of it. The second vehicle fled the scene.

The passenger was taken to a hospital by ambulance but later died of their injuries. Their name has not yet been released.

As of Sunday morning, authorities say they are looking for a 1997-2003 Ford F150 that is blue or teal in color. The truck would have damage to the driver side and front side. Anyone with information on this crash or the truck is asked to call the Jo Daviess Sheriff’s Department at 815-777-2141 or Crime Stoppers at 800-747-0117.

This crash is still under investigation by the Jo Daviess Sheriff’s Deptarment. No charges have been filed.
