New York explosion injures at least 25 people
NEW YORK CITY, New York– An explosion rattled the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City just before 9 PM Saturday night, injuring at least 25 people. The fire department has ruled out gas as the cause of the explosion, but officials are still trying to find out what caused it.
CNN is reporting that the blast was caused by an explosive device in or near a dumpster. Police say the area that the explosion occurred is a busy neighborhood, especially on a Saturday night. The blast shattered windows and forced several blocks to shut down.
The fire department says the explosion happened at 23rd Street and 6th Avenue in Manhattan. None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
