ROCK ISLAND, Illinois -- Students had the opportunity to experience nature with some of its most beautiful creatures: Monarch butterflies.
On Thursday, September 15, 2016, students from Eugene Field Elementary School had a monarch butterfly release, where they set the little fliers free. Leading up to the release, these young biologists harvested eggs and raised them from caterpillars to butterflies.
The butterflies will now head south to Mexico.
