Police seek IDs of two allegedly responsible for series of locker break-ins at QC gyms

BETTENDORF, Iowa — Police are trying to identify two suspects they say committed a series of thefts at Quad Cities gyms.

On Wednesday, September 7, 2016 two people, who police describe as black females, went into Ultimate Fitness on Golden Valley Drive in Bettendorf and fraudulently got a one-day membership, according to a statement from the City of Bettendorf.  While the two were inside the gym, they went into the women’s locker room, “cut locks off lockers, stealing members’ belongings,” the statement said.

Police said the two then used stolen car keys to get into members’ cars in the parking lot and stole more items.

On that same day, the suspects “committed similar acts” at two Davenport YMCAs “using the same means,” read the statement.

Investigators are trying to identify the two suspects.  If you have any information or if you can identify them, you are asked to call Detective Jeff Buckles with the Bettendorf Police Department at 563-344-4039.
