Our vocabulary just got a little larger with the new words added to the Oxford English Dictionary in September of 2016.
More than 500 new words, phrases, and senses were added, including “clickbait,” “non-apology,” “squee,” “scrumdiddlyumptious,” “YOLO,” and of course “‘merica.” Click here to see all the new words added (note, some entries may be deemed inappropriate for some readers).
The September update reflects well-known writer Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday, by adding some words connected to his works. These include splendiferous, human bean, and Dahlesque.
The dictionary’s next update will be December of 2016.
