Body of missing woman found in yard of Standard, Illinois home

During their search of a Standard, Illinois home, police said they found the body of missing Ladd, Illinois woman Deborah K. Dewey.

The search took place Monday, September 12, 2016 at a home at 5th Street and Illinois Route 71 in Standard.  According to a statement from the Illinois State Police, the body was pulled "from a shallow grave located in the yard of the residence." The identity of the body was verified through dental records.

Dewey, age 62, was last seen on August 22, 2016 in Spring Valley, Illinois, police said.  One week later, her gray 2007 Buick LaCrosse was found at the TA Truck Stop on Illinois Route 47, north of Interstate 80. Previous reports indicate that her car was unlocked with her keys and purse inside.

Police said this investigation is now considered a homicide investigation, according to the statement.
