APPLE CANYON LAKE, Ill. — No one was home and no injuries were reported in a home explosion in the private resort area of Apple Canyon Lake in northwestern Illinois late Monday night.
The Apple Canyon Lake community is west of Galena, just south of the Wisconsin border.
The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reported that the explosion and subsequent fire took six are fire departments to extinguish. The explosion happened shortly before 9 p.m. Monday, according to reports.
Neighbors reported the house on Cottonwood Court on the southwest side of the lake blew up, but that no one was in the residence at the time, the newspaper report said. The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Department told Telegraph Herald news partner KWWL that the incident occurred at about 8:50 p.m. and that no injuries were reported.
Responding departments included: Apple River, Apple Canyon Lake, Warren, Scales Mound, Galena and Shullsburg, Wis. The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the scene.
