Man reportedly attempts to get child into truck in Bettendorf neighborhood

BETTENDORF, Iowa -- A man reportedly tried to get a little girl into his truck in a Bettendorf neighborhood.

A 12-year-old girl was walking down a sidewalk on Wakonda Drive when a man between 50 and 55 years old pulled up in what was described as a purple or plum-colored Ford pickup, according to Bettendorf Police.  It was around 7:30 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2016 when the man reportedly pushed open the passenger-side door and said "Get in the truck."

Police say the man was described as having gray/black hair, no facial hair or glasses, and a deep voice.  The vehicle was described as a two-door with "Fender Flares" over the wheel wells and had a lot of dents.  The truck bed appeared to be empty.

The vehicle was spotted heading south on Wakonda Drive toward Tanglefoot Lane.
