DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — The city of Dubuque has agreed to a $54,500 settlement with a former worker who was injured when he fell off a tractor or riding lawn mower.

The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports the city agreed to the settlement with 78-year-old James Hoerner who had been a seasonal employee for 12 years before the injury in 2012.

The city’s attorney Les Reddick says Hoerner needed shoulder replacement surgery, and afterward he had a lifting restriction and other impairments. That kept him from returning to work with the city.

The city will pay Hoerner a lump sum and assume responsibility for any future medical expenses related to the injury.
